The days of slow, crowded buses on the 38 can be over soon, but only if you get involved.
The 38 Geary line is slated for Bus Rapid Transit, or "BRT." Promising 25% in travel time savings, smoother rides, and more frequent service, Geary BRT would be one of the most significant upgrades in San Francisco public transit.
What is BRT? It is mass transportation for the 21st century. Sleek, modern buses traveling down private right-of-ways which only pause to quickly exchange passengers at state-of-the art stations. BRT shares many features, in fact, with rail transit. But at a fraction of the cost and faster build-outs, BRT can quickly bolster major transit corridors. As with any project in San Francisco, Geary BRT needs support to happen. The more voices calling for BRT, the sooner we can break ground.
